The purchase window opens with the “+” button. For how many videos a pickaxe takes and where else gray pickaxes are given out, see the “Tasks and dailies” page. When the prize pool is empty, a gray pickaxe gives only things that cost no money.
What a cell can hold
Various prizes worth from 0 to 150 dollars, no more.
Inventory
A prize goes to your inventory; it does not reach your balance on its own. You collect it with the “Get” button. CBW in the inventory has different buttons:

Fragments
Five fragments of the same character unlock the whole character. A spare fragment can be burned for 10 XP. Before burning, the game shows how much XP you will get and warns you if you have enough fragments for a whole character.
